Mobile Trader 2014/15 project

In August 2015, the Commission released a report detailing the findings of its year-long project looking at mobile traders, commonly known as truck shops.

The project aimed to gain a better understanding of how the mobile trader industry operated, the business practices causing difficulty for consumers and the level of compliance with the laws the Commission enforces (Fair Trading Act (FTA) and Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act (CCCFA)).

The report is intended as a general review of the mobile trader industry, based on the information the Commission obtained from a wide variety of sources such as mobile traders and their customers, and community and non-government organisations.
