Every two months the Commerce Commission publishes feature articles in the newsletter Bulletin – News direct from the Commerce Commission.

The Bulletin covers a mix of regulation and competition issues. Articles inform about the Commission's thinking, feature case studies and general Commission news. The newsletter also contains updates on consultations, highlight new resources on our website and international news.

Competition and consumer agencies worldwide have long recognised the benefits of international cooperation in tackling cross-border offending. The Commerce Commission has been a member of an informal network, the International Consumer Protection Enforcement Network (ICPEN), for many years.

Guidelines for international information requests

We recently released our guidelines for Overseas Requests for Compulsorily Acquired Information and Investigative Assistance. These guidelines explain how we deal with requests from recognised overseas regulators made under a cooperation agreement for this type of information. The information must be in relation to competition, fair trading or consumer credit law, or to the regulation of telecommunications.

Consumer law reform continues

The Consumer Law Reform Bill had Committee of the Whole House stage on Tuesday 3 December and is now awaiting its third reading in parliament. We continue to work to ensure we have the systems, processes and policies necessary to provide guidance and enforce the changes anticipated under the new law.
