PDM Trading Limited (t/a PD Mart, Auckland) and Silk Road Retail NZ Limited (t/a PD Mart, Christchurch)

The Commission is currently investigating PDM Trading Limited (t/a PD Mart, Auckland) and Silk Road Retail NZ Limited (t/a PD Mart, Christchurch), for supplying and offering to supply goods that may fail to comply with the requirements of a Product Safety Standard or an Unsafe Goods Notice in breach of the Fair Trading Act. In particular, the Commission is concerned about the safety of a number of children’s toys (which includes rattles), children’s bicycles and baby walkers. Both companies have undertaken a number of product recalls following the Commission’s intervention and have entered into court enforceable undertakings whilst the Commission continues to investigate their conduct. It is recommended that consumers immediately cease using all goods that have been recalled and return them to PD Mart in Auckland or Christchurch for a full refund.
