On 27th July 2023, we published industry guidance on the obligations of fuel retailers under the Fuel Industry Act and the Fair Trading Act in relation to displaying pricing information.
The factsheet includes practical examples and guidance which reflect the themes of non-compliance and compliance concerns we have identified and sets out the penalties for non-compliance.

In the lead up to substantive parts of the Fuel Industry Act (the Act) taking effect, the Commission published open letters to fuel industry stakeholders on 9 July and 10 December, 2021. The open letters summarise the requirements of the Act and when they come into effect, explain the Commission’s roles under the Act, and how and when we expect to engage with the sector.
Alongside the open letter, the Commission also published media releases on 9 July 2021, 10 August 2021 and 11 February 2022 with an accompanying infographic which provides a high-level overview of the new fuel regulatory regime and our role within it.
