The Commerce Commission has cleared Gallagher Group Limited to acquire all of the business assets of Greyson Gates Limited.

Commission Chair Paula Rebstock said that the Commission was satisfied that the proposed acquisition would not have, or would not be likely to have, the effect of substantially lessening competition in the North Island market for the manufacture and wholesale supply of rural gates, the South Island market for the manufacture and wholesale supply of rural gates, and the national market for the manufacture and wholesale supply of gate hardware.

Gallagher is based in Hamilton, and is the wholly owned subsidiary of Gallagher Holdings Limited. Its primary focus is on the design, manufacture and marketing of animal and security management systems, including rural gates and gate hardware under the brand Franklin.

Greyson is a wholly owned subsidiary of Perry Group Limited, is based in Putaruru, and is involved in the manufacture and wholesale supply of rural gates and gate hardware.

A public version of the written decision will shortly be available on the Commission's website under Public Registers.
