Including submissions delivered today, the Commerce Commission has received 27 submissions in response to its draft determination on the proposal by a consortium of meat companies to buy the Weddel meat processing plants and then close them.

Commission Chairman Alan Bollard said 14 submissions oppose the proposal, nine support it, two give qualified support, and two are neutral.

Friday was the deadline for submissions but Dr Bollard said those which arrived today will still be considered. Experts working for interested parties have until Friday to make submissions.
