The Commerce Commission is now due to issue its draft report recommending whether price controls should be introduced on airfield activities at Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch International Airports on June 29.

Commission Chair John Belgrave said that this is a three-week extension beyond the expected date of Friday this week. This allows the Commission more time to consider advice from independent experts on key issues.

The time for interested parties to make submissions on the draft report has also been extended, but the dates for the conference and the Commission's final recommendations to the Minister of Commerce have not changed.

The Commission's new timetable is:

June 29 Commission releases draft report.

by August 10 Interested parties make submissions on draft report and experts hired by interested parties provide their reports.

by August 31 Interested parties and experts make cross submissions.

September 4-7, 10 and 12-14 Conference where interested parties can provide further information and the Commission can ask questions. The media and public can attend.

November 2 Commission reports to the Minister of Commerce with final recommendations as to whether price controls should be imposed.
