The Commerce Commission has cleared Portacom New Zealand Limited to acquire the operations, assets, and business owned by Rhino Group Limited. Portacom applied for clearance for the acquisition to the extent that it would affect the operations conducted by Rhino Portable Buildings Limited, a subsidiary of Rhino Group Limited.

Commission Chair Paula Rebstock said that the Commission was satisfied that the proposed acquisition would not have, or would not be likely to have, the effect of substantially lessening competition in any of the relevant markets.

Portacom manufactures and supplies modular portable buildings nationally for sale or hire. Portacom is a wholly owned subsidiary of WACO International Limited (South Africa).

Rhino is a privately-owned company that manufactures and supplies modular portable buildings for sale, lease or hire. Rhino operates primarily in the North Island.

A public version of the written decision will shortly be available on the Clearances Register.
