The Commerce Commission has received an application from Portacom New Zealand Limited seeking clearance to acquire the business and assets of Rhino Portable Buildings Limited.

Portacom supplies modular portable buildings nationally for either sale or hire. Portacom is a wholly owned subsidiary of WACO International Limited (South Africa).

Rhino is a privately-owned company that supplies modular portable buildings for sale, lease or hire. Rhino operates primarily in the North Island.

In considering the application, the Commission's role is to determine whether the acquisition has the effect of substantially lessening competition in a market.

A public version of the application will shortly be available on the Commission's website www.comcom.govt.nz under the Clearances Register.
