A company that ran a series of text to win trivia competitions is offering refunds to consumers  who participated in the competitions.

From July 2006 to January 2007 TMG Asia Pacific promoted and operated a series of 14 text trivia competitions in  New Zealand. The competitions were promoted through television advertising which was broadcast on TV1, TV2, TV3, C4, MTV and Prime.

Consumers who purchased text and win trivia services and believe that they may be eligible for a refund should submit a refund request to TMG Asia Pacific by completing the web form available via the website  http://text8555.com/refunds/

Refund requests need to be registered with TMG Asia Pacific before  Friday 22 January 2010.

The Commerce Commission is prosecuting TMG Asia Pacific for alleged breaches of the Fair trading Act related to misleading advertising. As the matter is before the courts, there will be no further comment from the Commission at this stage.
