The Commerce Commission has received an application from Christchurch International Airport Limited seeking clearance to acquire Craddocks Car Storage.

Christchurch International Airport Limited is majority owned by Christchurch City Council.  Christchurch International Airport Limited operates Christchurch International Airport as well as numerous non-aviation businesses, including airport parking services.

Craddocks Car Storage, owned and operated by PMW 2000 Limited, runs a high security car storage facility supplying parking and other value-added services to users of Christchurch International Airport.  These value-added services include valet, on-site vehicle grooming, vehicle servicing and warrant of fitness, re-fuelling and panel and paint repairs.

In considering the application, the Commission's role is to determine whether the acquisition has the effect of substantially lessening competition in a market.

A public version of the application will be available shortly on the Commission's website at www.comcom.govt.nz/clearances-register
