The Commerce Commission has filed charges against a mobile trader for breaches of the Crimes Act 1961 and Fair Trading Act 1986.

Vikram Mehta, a former director of Flexi Buy Limited has been charged with obtaining money from customers by deception and accepting payment from customers without intending to supply the goods they contracted to purchase.

Flexi Buy is one of two companies the Commission identified as being under investigation in a report on the mobile trader industry released last week.

Mr Mehta was arrested by Police and appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning. He was bailed to reappear before the court on 15 September 2015.

As the matter is now before the Court, the Commission is unable to comment further at this time.
