Commerce Commission Chairman Dr Alan Bollard said today the Commission is continuing its investigation of Southpower for an alleged breach of the Commerce Act.

"I would like to clarify a comment made in the Dominion newspaper this morning about this investigation," Dr Bollard said.

Yesterday (Wednesday September 4) the Commission spokesperson said the "investigation" would continue for at least several more weeks.

The spokesperson did not say court action against Southpower would be at least several weeks away. That was a conclusion drawn by the Dominion from the comment.

The Commission is continuing its investigation. A decision on whether it will or will not take court action will be made after the investigation is concluded.
