The Commerce Commission will hold a five day conference on Wednesday 17 - Friday 19 July, and Tuesday 23 - Wednesday 24 July, on the proposed thresholds and control regime for electricity lines businesses, as required under Part 4A of the Commerce Act 1986.

The conference is for interested parties to make oral submissions on the conceptual design of the regime, and provide the opportunity for the Commission to ask questions. Any media representatives interested in attending should contact Jackie Maitland (details below).

The conference will be held at Level 5, CSI House, 166 Featherston Street, Wellington.

The Commission released a Discussion Paper, in March this year, describing the Commission's proposals for its new responsibilities under the Commerce Act to set performance thresholds and, if required, control prices, revenues and quality of supply of New Zealand's 30 large electricity lines businesses, including Transpower.

In August, following the conference, the Commission will release its discussion paper on the review of asset valuation methodologies.

The discussion paper, as well as submissions made to the Commission, are available at the Commission's website at .
