We are setting DPP4 in the context of an energy transition to increased electrification, climate change impacts, high inflation, and significant cost pressures facing both EDBs and consumers.

Current step in the process

On 29 May 2024 we published our draft decision and Commissioner Vhari McWha hosted a presentation to stakeholders and media and Q&A session. Details on the draft decision reasons paper, models, determination can be found in the ‘Documents’ section at the bottom of this page.

On 18 July 2024, we published 39 publicly available submissions received in response to our draft decision. On 12 August 2024 we published 12 publicly available cross-submissions to our draft decision. We thank submitters for their feedback and engagement. These submissions and cross-submissions  can be found in the ‘Documents’ section at the bottom of this page.

On 27 July 2024, we announced an upcoming workshop to be held on ‘Implementation design and application process for the innovation and non-traditional solutions allowance (INTSA)’, occurring Wednesday 14 August 2024 at 10:00am – 11:30am, and will be online only via MS Teams. On 12 August 2024, we published the materials for the INTSA workshop– the workshop slide pack and draft INTSA guidance + PEA template. These materials were also emailed to those who RSVP’d on 8 August 2024.

On 3 September 2024, we published the draft reasons paper on the proposed amendments to input methodologies for electricity distribution businesses, gas pipeline businesses and Transpower relating to insurance entitlements, other compensatory entitlements, and other regulated income. Submissions will close on Friday 20 September, and cross-submissions on Monday 7 October 2024.
