Transpower may submit separate proposals to seek approval for certain capital investment projects for the national grid or the high-voltage electricity transmission network.
There are two types of capital projects that Transpower may submit proposals for our approval. These proposals are separate to the main expenditure proposal that Transpower submits for a regulatory period.
Transpower may submit a proposal to seek approval for a major capital investment at anytime. These investments enhance or develop the transmission network, rather than simply replace existing assets.
As part of each process for setting Transpower's price-quality path, we publish a set of potential projects that Transpower expects to initiate during the regulatory period. These 'listed projects' typically are to replace existing assets, with expected costs of greater than $20m.
