Here you will find information disclosed by electricity distributors from 2008 to April 2024. This information helps people to better understand how the electricity sector is performing.
We have taken the information from the public disclosures which are available on each distributor’s website.
Disclosures from 2000 to 2007 were required to be gazetted and are available on the New Zealand Gazette website.
To keep the dataset file sizes manageable we have split the data into groups of years. A dataset of all years of data is also available but due to the volume of data this is only available in .csv and parquet.
To make it easier for stakeholders to analyse this information, we have provided datasets in various formats. The xlsx format is suitable for most users and we have made changes to keep the file size manageable. The compressed csv (csv.gz) and parquet formats will suit those using machine-readable tools.
The data dictionary (also found below) includes a description of columns within the datasets and other useful information about the data. For definitions of terms used in the disclosures themselves, see the latest version of the information disclosure determination.
We are trying a new approach with this release of the electricity distribution businesses information disclosure (EDB ID) data. It is the first time we are publishing multiple file formats and including a data dictionary.
