Commission finalises revised timetable for price control study of airports
Published03 Sep 1999
The Commerce Commission today published its revised timetable for its price control study of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch International Airports.
The Minister of Commerce and Enterprise wrote to the Commission on 29 July, advising that the deadline for the report had been extended from December 14 this year to 1 August 2002. The terms of reference of the inquiry remain unchanged.
The Commission understands that the reporting date has been extended by Government to allow:
the airports to complete the consultation with substantial customers required under the Airport Authorities Amendment Act 1997;
parties the opportunity to consider disclosures made by the airports in 2000 pursuant to the Airport Authorities (Airport Companies Information Disclosure) Regulations 1999; and
the Government further time to update the price control provisions of the Commerce Act.
Commission Acting Chairman Mark Berry said that as yet the Commission has published no findings from the study and has made no recommendations to the Minister. The Commission will continue its investigations.
