Consumer issues report

Each year the Commission produces a report identifying current issues and emerging risks that have the potential to affect markets or consumers.

Based on analysis of information from a wide range of sources, including the Commission’s own data as well as information from other government and community agencies, the Consumer Issues Report presents a picture of the issues concerning consumers in New Zealand.

The report was produced for the first time in 2014 to inform our internal planning. After completing the first report, we considered the benefit to others if we were to share this information publicly. We decided that from 2015 we would provide a public report each year to give interested persons a picture of consumer issues in New Zealand.

The report does not attempt to set out the Commission’s priorities, it is driven by consumer data to give a picture of issues concerning consumers. The Commission uses the report to inform our business planning which identifies priority areas for the following year.
