Development of the Copper Withdrawal Code

The Copper Withdrawal Code came into effect on 1 March 2021 setting out minimum requirements that Chorus must meet before it stops supplying copper services.
In November 2018 the Telecommunications Act was amended, requiring the Commerce Commission to prepare a Copper withdrawal Code by 1 January 2022.

The Commission consulted with interested persons and stakeholders for the Code development and implementation and the documents published as part of the process are listed below.
